Spend your first Tadpole Eggs on Pond Levels 6 and 7 (1 egg and 3 eggs), then buy rank 1 of Generous Pond and Pond Vitality, since each costs a single egg. After that, keep leveling the pond and add Egg Bloom once your migrations pay 20 or more eggs, because below that its 5% bonus rounds to nothing. Hardy Frogs is the talent to buy last.
Here’s what eggs do, where they come from and how to split them.
What are Tadpole Eggs used for? #
Tadpole Eggs are Frog Pond’s prestige currency. You spend them in two places:
- Pond Levels 6 to 30. Every level past 5 costs eggs, starting at 1 and climbing to 100,000 for Level 30. Levels add new frog tiers, biomes with production bonuses, visitors and story chapters.
- Talents. Four permanent perks, each with several ranks, available from Pond Level 5.
Eggs you spend are gone from your wallet, but the progress they buy is permanent. Migrations don’t touch Pond Level or talents. Your base tap power grows with every egg you’ve ever hatched (half a coin per egg), and that count doesn’t drop when you spend, so spending never weakens your taps.

Migration is the big one. Visitors add up faster than you’d expect: Bertram the Heron comes every day from Pond Level 6, and once his friendship passes 75 he leaves 4 eggs a visit.
Which Frog Pond talent should you buy first? #
All four talents open at Pond Level 5. Here they are with the egg cost of each rank:

Generous Pond: the best one-egg buy #
Rank 1 costs one egg and adds 5% to offline earnings, daily rewards, dragonfly chests, Pond Trial rewards and event payouts. Offline earnings are a large share of income for anyone who plays a couple of times a day, so this pays back quickly. Rank 2 at 3 eggs is still a good deal.
Pond Vitality: worth it if you sleep longer than 8 hours #
Your frogs earn for up to 8 hours while you’re away. Each rank of Pond Vitality raises that cap by 10%, so rank 1 adds 48 minutes and rank 5 adds 4 hours. It stacks with Old Toads, which add 6 minutes each up to 6 hours. If you’re usually back within 8 hours, it does nothing for you. If you’re gone 9 or 10 hours overnight, rank 1 or 2 turns dead time into coins.
Egg Bloom: wait until your migrations pay 20+ eggs #
Egg Bloom adds 5% per rank to the eggs you get from migrating, and it’s the talent that pays you back in eggs. There’s a catch in how the game rounds. It multiplies your base eggs and rounds down, so 5% of 10 eggs (10.5) becomes 10. Rank 1 gives nothing until your base migration is at least 20 eggs, which means about 400 million coins in a run.
Once you’re there, Egg Bloom is the best long-term buy. Rank 1 costs 2 eggs and pays one extra egg on a 20-egg migration, so it’s paid for after two runs. At higher ranks the math keeps working because Pond Levels in the teens cost hundreds of eggs, and migrations grow to match. Pair it with Cosmic Frogs, whose Stargazer bonus (+0.5% eggs each) adds to Egg Bloom’s percentage.
Hardy Frogs: buy it last #
Hardy Frogs speeds up event meters and makes the heron less likely to land. The heron’s landing chance already hits zero once you own 25 frogs, which happens early in every run. The faster meters are nice for clearing algae blooms, and rank 1 is cheap, but this is the least urgent of the four.
Should you spend eggs on Pond Levels or talents? #
Early on, Pond Levels win. Levels 6 through 10 cost 1, 3, 6, 12 and 25 eggs, and in that stretch you get Bertram (a daily egg source), Glass Frogs, Lulu the Dragonfly and the Deep Rainforest biome with +25% production. Few talent ranks match that.
A sensible order for the first 50 or so eggs:
- Pond Level 6 (1 egg)
- Generous Pond rank 1 (1 egg)
- Pond Level 7 (3 eggs)
- Pond Vitality rank 1 (1 egg), if you’re often away longer than 8 hours
- Pond Level 8 (6 eggs)
- Pond Level 9 (12 eggs)
- Pond Level 10 (25 eggs)
From there, alternate. When the next Pond Level is far off, spend spare eggs on cheap talent ranks rather than letting them sit. When a migration will cover the next level, save for it. Level 11 (45 eggs) brings Poison Darts, which make event meters fill much faster, and Level 15 (320 eggs) brings Golden Frogs. The whole ladder is in our Pond Level guide.
How do you earn eggs faster? #
Four habits make the biggest difference:
- Migrate at the right time. Our migration guide covers when a run has run out of steam.
- Greet every visitor. Visitors bring 1 to 5 eggs each time depending on friendship, and each greeting raises friendship by 5. Bertram visits daily, Lulu three times a week, Old Croaker every Sunday and Pip every 5 to 10 days. The schedules are in our daily rewards and visitors guide.
- Keep the daily streak. Day 7 of every cycle pays an egg on top of an hour of production.
- Stack Cosmic Frogs before migrating. Once you reach Pond Level 21, each one adds 0.5% to your eggs.
Frog Pond has no in-app purchases, so there’s no way to buy eggs. Every one comes from playing, which keeps the leaderboard of your own progress honest.
Frequently asked questions #
Do Tadpole Eggs reset when you migrate? #
No. Eggs, talents and Pond Level all survive migration. Only a transcendence (available at Pond Level 30) resets eggs and Pond Level, and it pays Stardust in return.
Can you refund talents in Frog Pond? #
The game doesn’t offer a talent refund. Eggs spent on talents stay spent, and the talents stay permanent, so pick with the order above in mind.
Is Egg Bloom worth it? #
Yes, once your migrations pay at least 20 base eggs. Below that, the game’s rounding means rank 1 adds nothing. At 20 eggs and up, rank 1 pays for itself within two migrations.
How many eggs do you need to max the pond? #
Reaching Pond Level 30 from Level 5 takes 345,807 eggs in total. Maxing all four talents takes another 225. Most of that comes from big late-game migrations worth thousands of eggs each.
