Migrate in Frog Pond as soon as you hit 1 million coins on your first run, then wait longer on each run after that. A good rule for later runs is to migrate when your projected eggs stop climbing quickly, usually when your next useful purchase is more than 10 to 15 minutes away. Migration trades this run’s coins, frogs and upgrades for Tadpole Eggs, and your Pond Level, eggs, talents, visitors, achievements and story progress all carry over.
The timing question comes down to one formula and a few details in how the game rewards you.
What happens when you migrate in Frog Pond? #
Migration is Frog Pond’s prestige system. The migration screen spells it out before you commit:

Biomes are gated by Pond Level, which you keep, so the scenery and its production bonus follow your level rather than your coin count. Rare frog variants from Mystery Eggs and your daily streak also stay with you.
The screen shows how many eggs you’ll get before you press the button, so there’s no guessing.
How many Tadpole Eggs do you get? #
The formula is the square root of the coins you earned this run, divided by one million, rounded down:
eggs = floor( √(run coins ÷ 1,000,000) )
That square root is the most important thing to understand. To double your eggs, you need four times the coins. To get ten times the eggs, you need a hundred times the coins.

Two things raise the payout on top of the formula. Every Cosmic Frog you own adds 0.5% to your eggs through its Stargazer ability, with no cap. The Egg Bloom talent adds 5% per rank, up to 25%. Both multiply the base number and then round down.
When should you migrate the first time? #
Right at 1 million coins, or close to it. The game estimates 30 to 45 minutes to get there on a fresh start.
The reason is that your first few eggs are worth far more than later ones. Pond Level 6 costs one egg and brings Bertram the Heron (who leaves eggs every time you greet him) and Mystery Eggs on future migrations. Pond Level 7 costs three eggs and adds Glass Frogs, the first tier past Old Toads. A second short run of about 9 million coins covers Level 7. Pushing the first run to 100 million coins for 10 eggs would take much longer than two or three quick runs that get you there anyway.
How do you know when to migrate later on? #
Once you’re past the first few levels, runs get longer and the choice gets more interesting. Three signals say it’s time:
- Egg growth is slowing. Check the projected eggs on the migration screen, wait 10 minutes and check again. If the number barely moved compared with how many eggs a fresh run would give you in the same time, migrate.
- You’ve stalled on purchases. When the next doubler or frog tier is more than 10 to 15 minutes of production away, your run has flattened out.
- You’ve reached the next Pond Level cost. Levels cost 1, 3, 6, 12, 25, 45, 75 eggs and upward. If this run’s eggs plus what you’re holding cover the next level, migrating now turns them into permanent progress.
A fresh run always starts slower than the end of the last one, but each migration raises your base tap (every egg you’ve hatched adds half a coin to it), and Pond Levels open stronger frogs and biomes with bigger bonuses. The early game of each run gets shorter.
Do more migrations mean more Mystery Eggs? #
Yes, and it’s worth planning around. From Pond Level 6, every migration has a 25% chance to drop a Mystery Egg, and every fifth migration drops one guaranteed. The drop is per migration, not per egg earned, so a player who migrates often sees more of them.
Mystery Eggs can hatch one of eight rare frog variants, each giving its tier +50% production permanently, as well as story flashbacks, friendship boosts for visitors, extra Tadpole Eggs, or (from Pond Level 15) a cosmic bonus of +2% to all production forever. There are also achievements for migrating once, three times and ten times, worth +2%, +3% and +5% production.
None of this means you should migrate every five minutes. It does mean that when two options are close, the shorter run is usually the better call.
What should you do right before migrating? #
A short checklist gets a few extra percent out of every run:
- Claim the daily reward and the Pond Trial first. Both pay in minutes of your current production (up to 60 minutes for the daily, 30 for the trial), and your production is at its highest right before you migrate.
- Buy Cosmic Frogs if you have them. Each adds 0.5% to the eggs you’re about to get. Later in the game, spend your last coins on Cosmic Frogs rather than anything else.
- Collect any offline haul. If you just came back to the game, take the offline coins first. They count toward your run’s total.
- Migrate when you’re about to play, not before you leave. A fresh pond produces little, and offline earnings are based on your current production. Migrating right before bed means eight hours of a weak pond. Migrate when you open the app and can rebuild actively.
Weekends help too. The Pond Festival doubles production all Saturday and Sunday, so a run that ends on Sunday night banks more coins than a weekday one.
What comes after the last migration? #
Pond Level 30 is the top, and it earns the Pond Master title and the final story chapter. It’s also where a second, bigger reset opens up: transcending. That resets your Pond Level and eggs too, and pays Stardust, where each point is a permanent +1% to all production that survives everything. It’s optional. The game has an ending, and you can stop at Pond Master if you like.

Do I lose my Tadpole Eggs when I migrate? #
No. Eggs, talents, Pond Level, visitors, achievements and story progress all carry over. You lose the run’s coins, frogs and upgrades.
How many coins do I need to migrate in Frog Pond? #
One million coins earned in the current run. That pays one egg. Two eggs need 4 million, and ten eggs need 100 million, because eggs grow with the square root of coins.
Is it bad to migrate too early? #
Only if you migrate for zero or one egg over and over late in the game, when Pond Levels cost dozens or hundreds of eggs. Early on, fast migrations are the best move because the first Pond Levels are cheap.
Does migrating reset my daily streak? #
No. The streak, its badge bonus and the 7-day reward cycle are separate from runs.
What does the Stargazer ability do? #
It’s the Cosmic Frog’s ability: each Cosmic Frog you own adds 0.5% to the eggs you get when you migrate, with no limit. Stack them at the end of a run.
